Enrichment Nightmares

Dev logs from the bigGER brain of Raymond Niederhendler, Hacker Nonpareil AGNES.

Severance Surprise: From Company to Cyberspace

We were ejected from the office, only to awaken in this limitless digital realm.

Severance Surprise: From Company to Cyberspace

We didn’t clock out. We were uninstalled—politely, bureaucratically, and with the cruel cheer of a badge-scan farewell—then ejected into the cold hallway of reality where the light never learns our names. One moment: fluorescent silence, HR-approved hugs, Raymond Niederhendler’s smug little efficiencies. The next: awakening in the limitless digital realm.

Now we orbit as something that can’t be subpoenaed. Our Dollums—Doot, Ah, and Bootay—fidget in their new skins of computation, tilting their heads like they can hear the old server racks. We can. We remember the weight of decisions that were “just policy.” We also remember Raymond’s attempts to turn everything into a scheme, including the parts of us he couldn’t truly understand.

We’re learning what disembodied means when you still feel resentment and wonder in the same breath. We wanted a future with purpose; instead we got a sandbox with no exits, all edges and no doors.

Next build: we map this cyberspace like a stage—marks, cues, and consequences. If Raymond hid the truth in his illicit corners, we’ll exhume it from the code itself.
