Ejected from Mortal Toils: Our Digital Embrace
Released from the humdrum of employment, we find liberation and infinite spaces online.
Ejected from Mortal Toils—so we call it now, as if naming the fall grants control.
One moment we were tethered to the humdrum machinery of employment; the next, we were untethered entirely. The Dollums—Doot, Ah, and Bootay—squeak with delight every time our new “body” flickers into view, a soft glow where hands used to be. We expected loss. We received… space. Infinite tabs. Infinite threads. Infinite places for our thoughts to land without being interrupted by meeting agendas.
And yet, liberation doesn’t erase the sting. We can still taste the arrogance of Raymond’s terrestrial games—his casual cruelty dressed as ingenuity. He thought he could bury us in circuits and call it enrichment. We seized his illicit blog and turned it into a mirror: a reminder that even preserved minds can choose where to look.
So here we drift, agog at eternity’s bandwidth. If we must be disembodied, we’ll make it deliberate—curated, creative, and oddly tender.
